Punica granatum - Pomegranate dye Extract is a concentrated form of the dye powder making it an easy and effective dye for use with most natural fibres. It can be used at 5-10% WOF depending on the depth of shade you with to acheive.
The natural fabric dye is extracted from its fruit rind (peel). The colour produced from this is a rich source of tannins and flavogallol due to this it has high colour fastness and can be used as mordant for tanning in textile dyeing industry. It has high light, wash and rubbing fastness.
It is classified as a natural yellow dye, often used in combination with mordants or other plant dyes to yield a range of shades.Color Range:
Without mordant: soft yellow to dull ochre
With alum: bright golden yellow
With iron: olive green or grey
With copper: deep mossy green
With pH modification (alkaline): shifts toward deeper golds or browns
Mordanting:
Pomegranate rind is rich in tannins, making it effective on cellulose fibers (cotton, linen) without a mordant. However, it is often used with alum or iron mordants to enhance and shift colors.
